THEATER PROGRAMS
Theater Arts
These courses develop acting and theater skills using Broadway and
Children’s Theater repertoire. Students will learn plays, skits, monologue,
voice technique, theater terminology, & set/prop building. Theater make~up
and costuming are also fun aspects of this program. These classes are
terrific self~confidence builders, and are offered for all ages and
levels.
Dancing for Musical Theater
These 6 week programs will run through the dance year. Classes will
combine techniques from jazz, tap, and lyrical. Students will learn
presentation techniques, use of contrast, audition techniques, ensemble
and chorus performing. We will prepare one or two musical numbers over
the course of each session aiming at performance quality by the end
of the session. The class will not include vocal training, but students
will be singing. They need not be good, but they must sing! Requirements:
Some dance experience. Classes will be tailored to the level/age of
students that enroll. Students will need to purchase some kind of character
shoes by midway through the session. Class is 1 hour per week.
Performances
Theater classes perform in both our Holiday and Spring Showcases.
We also invite our Theater students to participate in some staging activities
such as props, costuming and make-up. This will be on a volunteer basis.
